In my home we rarely cook with ground beef, we are a ground turkey family. There are some things though that just need to be made with ground beef, so I was hesitant to try a good old fashioned Salisbury … Continue reading

I’ve been thinking a lot this week about being thankful. Because, you know, Thanksgiving and stuff. And I realized something. We’re in the sweet spot with our boys! Tim is at the point where he sleeps all night, but can’t crawl yet (Score!). And John is at the point where he actually listens and will bring me diapers and wipes and clean up his own messes (sometimes) and puts himself in his own room for time outs. Ha.
And for everyone who was thinking about Bean, his hearing is great! Apparently he even hears better than most babies his age! He’s just REALLY good at ignoring noises and being calm… Now his big problem is his eye. The tear duct has been plugged since he was born and he’s been struggling with infections. His ophthamologist… opthamologist… stop laughing – you spell that after a couple glasses of wine! Anyway, that guy wants to wait til he’s a year, if we can, to put him under and do the procedure to clean out his eye.Which I’m OK with. Poor Beanster.
And Oh My God the snake! The night before Thanksgiving, Andy had to work late, so John was down at Gramma’s and Tim and I were hanging out making dinner. I walked over to put in a Harry Potter and saw the cat staring at one of John’s toys. I thought there was a spider, so I was going to be a big girl and kill it myself. I moved the toy with my toy and a GODDAM SNAKE CRAWLED OUT!! I think we both screamed and then I hit him with the DVD case.
Um yes. Broke the case. Hopefully his back. I totally yelled “Avada Kedavra” so I’m just hoping he died… I called my in-laws, panicking, and dad and I cleaned my whole house looking for the thing. Never found him. It’s been a week and he’s still hiding. Stupid Slytherins.
Sissy came to visit. How awesome is it that she gets the be the cool aunt? The boys absolutely love her! And she kept track of them so I could make this:
Love how it turned out!
So you know what? I’m going to stop apologizing about not blogging and just enjoy my little family! I was getting kinda anxious about not getting to sew very often and not getting things done, but I realized that I need to enjoy my little boys while they’re still little. Older people always tell me that that is the thing they miss: their kids being little. So I’m just going to enjoy it now If I don’t post every week, I’m OK with that. If I don’t sew all the things in my head, I’ll survive. And my boys are adorable. The end
I promise we’re still alive (in case anyone was wondering…)!
I have been super busy working on some pattern tests that I can’t show you yet (but they are AMAZE-BALLS so stay tuned!). I also have my Etsy shop which means I have to do paid sewing
yawn. And, in case you haven’t noticed because you live under a rock, Thanksgiving is in three days! Oy. We’re having about twenty people including kids, and also two babies, so that’s going to be crazy. We’re cooking two turkeys, people! And then I’m making a black and gold 50th birthday cake for Saturday (thanks goodness my sister will be here to watch my boys!). I think I’m going to try to make Swiss Meringue Buttercream for it. Also, the baby is getting not one, but two teeth. And has started chewing when he’s done eating, so that doesn’t feel so great…
Here are some pics to tide you over (and you know, my kids are cute) til we get back to regular posting:
I dyed the end of my hair pink! This is a big step for this un-tattooed, un-pierced, un-dyed Momma!
Oh wait! Look! I did make something! Tim got hippo pants! These are Big Butt Baby Pants by Ray Hoekstra. I whipped them up during a naptime and when John woke up and saw them he thought they were for him. I told him I had some cut out for him (Holiday PJs by Melly Sews) so every time I stood up after that he grabbed my pants and pulled me towards my sewing room. So I gave him his crayons (and then a time out for drawing on the table and not his paper) and made these for him! He was very excited to match his brother. And we’ll just assume Tim was excited too…
Speaking of Tim, he has a hearing appointment in the morning. I know he can hear (because I clapped over his head when he was sleeping one time – hah), the problem is we think he might be hard of hearing. Or else really good at ignoring noises. So think of us tomorrow, please
What do you make when you only have a couple potatoes left from a big bag?? There isn’t really enough to make a side for dinner, so I did something I haven’t done in a long time…. I opened … Continue reading
